Well look what we have here. A young, inventive entrepreneur that started up a campaign to get rid of all those pennies you have lying around the house in jars taking up space. How do you get rid of them you ask? Well you send them to him of course! His goal is to receive one million pennies from one million people. So far he has received 82,025 pennies and you can see where all the contributors are from right here. And how much does one million pennies weigh you ask? 3.2 tons.

[...] I was catching up on some blog reading and came to my friend’s blog Utterly Geek. A little way down she had a article titled sendmepennies.com. Of course I was curious and read on. Apparently this guy out west somewhere has a goal of getting people to send him pennies. He wants to get 1 million pennies. It doesn’t really say what he plans to do with them but thats 10,000 bucks. Of course, since it’s just a penny I sent him one through paypal. How funny is that. He’s a long way away with just over 80,000 bucks. I hoe he reaches his goal. He’s also got some funny stuff on his blog in the links and the hate mail section. I was laughing a little. You should check it out. [...]
