Legos NXT - Toys For the Big Boys

JulieCool Products

LegoNXTThis won’t be under my Christmas tree this year, but when I am rich and I can afford to buy toys, a Lego NXT robotic system is going to be on my list of must haves. They have a 32 bit microprocessor, 4 input ports/3 output ports, matrix display, USB and Bluetooth to control your robot through your cellphone, and a speaker. I’m going to build just a basic no brainer robot to pour my drinks, and take out the trash. What would your robot do?

Crime Doesn’t Pay? Think Again!

JulieCool Business

Outside Connection After spending five years in a Pennsylvania state prison for aggravated assault and possession of stolen car parts, Brian Prins turned his life around and started a company now worth 37 billion dollars called Outside Connection. Family and friends can purchase phone time, and prisoners are given a direct-dial local number that goes straight to their chosen phone. This is all done at a discounted rate much less than if the prisoner had made a collect call. It’s refreshing to see an ex-con reformed and becoming a model citizen in the business world.

Sushi Goes To Outer Space

JulieCool Science

space sushi What do you think astronauts eat in space? Well it’s certainly not the astronaut ice cream you can buy in novelty stores. They have ovens to heat up their food, and salt and pepper to season it. But step aside macaroni and cheese because sushi is coming to your space plate, with chopsticks included. The Japanese space agency, JAXA, is going to be offering sushi on the international space stations menu as soon as they can find a way to give it a shelf life of one year. They are expecting the new Japanese Space Cuisine to be on the menu by next year. I wonder if they’ll get fortune cookies with that.

PowerSquid

JulieCool Products

power squid Take a look under your desk. What do you see? Chances are you see a handful of cords all plugged into 2-3 power strips. There is probably a few plugs on those power strips that you can’t use because your big square printer plug is blocking it. Or your odd shaped cell phone charger is covering another plug. We found a good solution for this problem today and it’s the PowerSquid. For $69.95 you can eliminate the need for all the power strips and plug in just one PowerSquid. Then you’ve got room for your router, modem, speaker system, or anything else you may have that needs power. This is hella sweet.

In The Beginning

JulieCool Sites

We’ve had this URL since August 8, 2005 and it’s been sitting around just waiting for something to be put here. We decided to get it out, dust it off and start a blog. This isn’t going to be some highly technical blog, and you won’t find anything that you just can’t understand. It will be for the everyday average internet surfer. If you are looking for a highly technical blog you’ve come to the wrong place. We’re just a couple of geeks who like to surf the web and share things we find. It will be fun running it and I hope you like it.
