I ran across an online tool for you to look at your website stats at Statsaholic.com. You can enter up to 5 domain names at a time. So I decided to test it out.
I entered in utterlygeek.com and I got this screen:

So I clicked on the “10-second fix” that brought me here:

WHOA!
It appears that Alexa has shut off their traffic graphs on all the websites of the world, with the exception of their own, Alexa.com. The sadly ironic part of this is that they’ve apparently broken their own widgets, too — all in an effort to shut down Statsaholic.
Instructions “10-second fix”
- 1. Make sure you’re using Firefox v2 (this may work with Firefox v1, but I haven’t tested)
- 2. Type “about:config” in the address (url) field, and hit Enter
- 3. Find the “network.http.sendRefererHeader” property by typing “refer” into the Filter: field
- 4. Double-click that property, and set its integer value to “0” in the prompt.
- 5. You’re done! Go back to Statsaholic and see the graphs in all their glory.
So I did that, and now I can see the graph.

Wouldn’t it have been easier just to go to Alexa? I’m not seeing what the big deal is here. Does anyone know?

The big buzz in the blog world lately has been sponsored reviews. Advertisers love to use this from of marketing because they can get the word out to millions of people very fast, and bloggers love it because they can make a little money from blogging. As an advertiser you can use one of the many services out there, but I’d like to focus on Sponsored Reviews this time.
Let’s say for instance that you sell outdoors equipment and you’d like to target an audience of campers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiast. As the owner of the blog Camping Co-op I would see your offer to write about your site and get excited. I get to see new equipment, and I get to write about it on my blog. You as the advertiser will benefit from this exposure in the form of traffic to your site, and hopefully sales.
So if you’re ready to jump on the bandwagon with the thousands of website owners that are already using this marketing approach for their sites, visit my profile page and make me an offer. Don’t be left out while your competition soars above you.

We got our youngest son an iPod Nano for his birthday and he loves it. He had all his music on it within 20 minutes, and it was really easy for him to use. I use to holler up at him from downstairs when I needed him, but now he doesn’t respond. It took me a few times to figure out that he had his headphones on and he couldn’t hear me. HA!
I found a handy article on Lifehacker today on how to fix your frozen iPod, so I thought I would share how to do it here also.
- Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
- Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds.

Have you ever had that sinking feeling when your hard drive fails, and you realize you have just lost everything from the past 4 years? Oh I’ve been there once, and only once. I learned the hard way and started using other backup alternatives like IBackup Online Backup. In my search today for online backup solutions, I came across them also. They are really more geared towards business users than PC users. What makes them so ideal for small businesses as you can schedule regular online backups for all your Windows based machines. The software resembles Windows Explorer, and allows to do scheduling and logging very easily. Check them out and see if this is an option for your small business data backups.

I’ve been messing with my CSS all day on here trying to get my blogrolling java script links to format and style like my other ones do within the Wordpress application. LaDonna from Domestic Geek got Amy from the The Casual Tech all fixed up and pretty, and I’ve been trying to use her code. So far, no luck ![]()
LaDonna’s fix:
.entry ul li:before, #sidebar ul ul li:before, .blogrollmain a:before {
content: "\00BB \0020";
}
.blogrollmain a {
line-height: 150%;
}
And where I “think” I should be added it:
.sub_cats1 ul {
padding:0px 0px 0px 0px;
margin:0px 0px 0px 0px;
}
.sub_cats1 li {
list-style:none;
padding:0px 0px 0px 0px;
margin:0px 0px 0px 0px;
background:url(images/li_bg1.jpg) left center no-repeat;
vertical-align:top;
line-height:15px;
}
.sub_cats1 ul li a {
text-decoration:none;
font-size:12px;
color:#930000;
font-family:courier new, tahoma, arial, times new roman;
padding:0px 0px 0px 11px;
}
.sub_cats1 li a:hover {
text-decoration:underline;
Does anyone have any ideas for me?

The guys and girls over at FuelMyBlog are having a photo contest. The topic of the contest is “View From My Window,” and you can see the other entries here. The prize is a digital camera, so get to entering your photos!
I entered this one:

This photo was taken on 9/11 of 2003. I was driving home to Nevada, and I was just about 5 miles from Salt Lake City, Utah. I stopped to go to the bathroom at a rest stop and I came out to see this. I stopped as if I was frozen in time and just stared. Tears started to stream down my face when I realized the symbolism of this image I was seeing. Once I gained my composure I reached for my camera and got this shot. The clouds in the image always have fascinated me. I can almost make out the letter “G” and the original resolution of the picture almost spells out the word “GOD.”

Have you ever considered online backup services? I’ve always thought about using them for images and such, but have never actually tried them. I got to thinking about it today so I went on the search and found IDrive-E Online Backup service. They offer 2 gigs of storage for free, and unlimited storage for $4.95 a month. If you are using the free service and you realize you are going to be needing more space you can easily upgrade to the IDrive-E Pro version. It’s pretty straight forward, check them out.

Reading about new apps always excite me, but rarely are they as intriguing as this post I found at TechnoBabble about Topicscape. It’s a project management system that encompasses mindmapping. Are you scratching your head yet? I was, but then I kept on reading.
First a little history on mindmapping is in order. Wikipedia says:
A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks or other items linked to and arranged radially around a central key word or idea.
Bascially what Topicscape does is give you a 3 dimensional look at your projects. Instead of just opening your boring 2 dimensional spreadsheet for the day to see what you need to work on, you get to view your projects through a 3D user interface, very similar to a video game. You can organize all kinds of information including:
- Projects
- To do lists
- Resource Information
- Business Plan Components
- Research Papers, Term Papers and Thesis
- Publishing white papers, blogs, ezines, or even a novel complete with plot lines, character development and background research!
- Genealogy and family tree information

Do you still need more information? You can click here for more 3d mind mapping information. If you’re ready to move forward then give it a whirl by downloading the Topicscape free trial and tell me what you think.
