Human Checker Game

JulieCool Geek Stuff

A human checker game huh? Sounds a little interesting. Back in March of 2002, they claimed to be “one of the world’s largest human checkers games,” featuring local business owners and other members of the city government. This all took place at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Darlington Avenue at Toho Square, and the moves were called out from people in a utility bucket that was above the checker board. Maybe I should take a little Kissimmee vacation sometime soon. That city seems to be just the right kind of “odd” for me.

Ice Fishing

JulieCool Products

Growing up in the Midwest, I am pretty familiar with what the lakes and ponds look like in the Spring when they thaw out. I found some good ole’ boys doing a little ice fishing on a lake that looks like it could have been in my home town. At least I know these guys could have come from there. All those rednecks needed was a some fishing tackle and a cooler filled with beer. This is totally something they would have done.

The Microsoft Mansion

JulieCool Science

I was looking at Bill Gates house today, and how it’s suppose to be all eco-friendly. It’s a 40,000-square-foot mansion on a wooded five-acre compound in the Seattle suburb of Medina. It’s estimated cost is $97 million dollars. Now there is some prime real estate! I like the fact that it is all eco-friendly, but man, if I was going to spend $97 million dollars on my house, I would want it to look better on the outside than this! The area is great, and I love the lake and the trees, but the house is just plain ugly to me.

Cute Sunglasses

JulieCool Sites

Sexy Sunglasses How do you get people to buy your product? Put it on a hot girl with cute hair of course. Man, I love this chicks hair, but I’m too chicken to cut mine off. I had it like this once, but I always wore bangs with it. Now that my bangs are grown out, I could totally pull this off. Just put me in some motorcycle sunglasses, and I’ll be sexy also. HA!

We Can’t Live Without Electricity

JulieCool Tech News

I was just writing on one of my other blogs how we can’t find the keys to our house. You see we have always used the garage to come in and out. The car remotes, and the keypad have been the most useful. No fumbling for keys in the dark, just hit the button, or punch in the code. There was one time the code got messed up for some reason, and we were totally locked out, so we had to break in a side window. If I knew of a local locksmith I could have called, we wouldn’t have had to break in. I actually do have a friend, a locksmith Kansas city is the place, but that’s just a little too far to make a service call.

But it got me to thinking of how much we rely on electronic gadgets. From key less door entries to all our cell phone chargers. Not to mention our need for electricity. I can’t imagine how different our lives would be without it. Would I just not know any better, so I wouldn’t miss it? LOL! Anyway, I need to find the keys to our house, so we can actually leave it. I can’t go anywhere if no one is home to unlock the door for me when I return. It’s just nuts that I can’t find these damn keys!

PDF Conversion Software

JulieCool Software

One of the greatest frustrations for me is editing pdf documents. I usually end up just retyping them, because I am a pretty fast typer. In the time it takes me to figure out how to edit them, I can have them retyped, and emailed already.

If you’ve ever wanted to be able to edit a PDF file, you know it can be frustrating. Enter PDF conversion software, which will help you convert pdf to Word or to Excel.

They are all shirts geared towards motherhood with cute and witty sayings on them. This one would have to be my favorite.

Home Theater Seating

JulieCool Products

home theater seating Do you remember that giant 103 inch HD television I wrote about last week? Well I found the perfect home theater seating that you would have to own if you had that television. Can you imagine all of your friends and family that would gather at your house to watch it? I know we’d have a house full of kids if we owned that thing.

The Dead Sea

JulieCool Science

Dead Sea Salt So we all know what the highest point in the world is right? It’s Mount Everest and it’s highest point is 29,035 feet above sea level. The lowest point in the world is the Dead Sea that sits at 1,312 feet below sea level. I was reading it’s Wiki entry on it and learned that dead sea salt comes from there, and is known for his healing powers against conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, and wrinkles. I thought that was rather interesting that something as powerful as that comes from “the lowest point on earth.”

DataRecovery.net

JulieCool Hardware

We were talking the other night about doing some serious backing up of our 5 computers that are in our house. We all have so much data on our machines, and if we lost any of it; it would be a great lose. This conversation stemmed from a discussion I had with an online friend. Her external hard drive went south, and she lost years and years of data, including her children’s pictures. Man, I still feel her pain when I think about that.

There are several reasons that hard drives can fail. Just to name a few:

  1. Inaccessible drive or partitions
  2. Data corruption
  3. RAID configuration lost
  4. Mechanical hard drive failure
  5. Hard drive surface damage

Luckily if something like this happens there are places that can possibly retrieve all your lost data for you, like DataRecovery.net. They offer services such as hard drive data recovery, and raid data recovery. First they will test the components and closely examine the drive platters to determine the extent of physical damage. That allows them to make a plan to recover your lost data. So basically, when you have a hard drive failure, it may not be the end of the world. They just might be able to get all your data safely back where it belongs.
