JulieCool Tech News

I’ve always loved the Dateline NBC’s series To Catch a Predator with Chris Hansen, and last night I caught his new show To Catch an I-Jacker. What they did was plant iPod’s all over the United States, with their special software packaged with it. The software requires you to register your iPod online, and wouldn’t you know it? Almost all of them registered it with their real name and address, making it easy for Chris and his team to track down the thieves.

Then of course in Chris Hansen style he confronted them by saying they won free MP3’s and took them into the prize patrol RV to retrieve their prize. Once there, he showed them the hidden video of them “jacking” the iPod in a public place. HA! I always get such a kick out of people who are confronted like that, just after the lie about how they got the iPod. It was great!

Did any of you catch it? Great series!

Wow I had not heard of this. Do you know how many people they did this to?

  2. MyAvatars 0.2 Ipod Touch Hacker Says:

That was borderline entrapment on some of those. Ok some were straight up stealing (like the kids that took it from a car), but others that were left on benches is borderline. Finding an I pod is like finding money. It would be different if it were full of songs that a person bought. Or if there was an obvious way to track the owner.
