This weekend seemed to bring out my productivity side, and I got tons of things done around the house. Cleaning out closets, sorting through drawers, and just generally getting rid of the clutter. One of the drawers in my foyer table seemed to have a lot of interesting stuff in it. It seems to be the catch drawer for old cell phones.

When cell phones are no longer needed, I guess we seem to think that they were at one time expensive, so there is no way we can just throw them into the trash. Plus that wouldn’t be very environmental friendly now would it? So apparently mine just get thrown in a drawer, never to be seen again.
There is a pretty neat solution for your old cell phones and it’s called CellForCash.com. They offer a rebate program for your old cell phone that can get you between $4 and $300 cold hard cash in your hands.
Why should I recycle my cell phone?
- Cell phones are not good for the environment
- Cell phones contain hazardous levels of lead when disposed in landfill conditions
- Preliminary testing by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control has shown that cell phones are likely to be determined hazardous at end-of-life and will require management under Universal Waste regulations.
- The lithium-ion and nickel-metal hydride batteries contain heavy metals such as cobalt, zinc, and copper.
They make it really easy to recycle your cell phone. You just put in your make and model, and they will tell you what it’s worth. They even will send you a free postage paid box for you to send in your cell phone. And the really great feature of their site? You can donate your rebate amount to the CellphoneBank.org website that helps the elderly and victims of abuse.
So do your part in helping the environment, while cleaning out the clutter in your house, and recycle your old unused cell phone at CellForCash.com.
