I’ve been reading some new blogs lately I thought I would share with you. If you like The Office, or My Name Is Earl, some of the characters have their own blogs on the NBC website. It’s kind of odd to add a comment to an online personality blog post, but I still do for fun. I love these shows so much!

recycle old cell phones This weekend seemed to bring out my productivity side, and I got tons of things done around the house. Cleaning out closets, sorting through drawers, and just generally getting rid of the clutter. One of the drawers in my foyer table seemed to have a lot of interesting stuff in it. It seems to be the catch drawer for old cell phones.

    recycle your cell phone

When cell phones are no longer needed, I guess we seem to think that they were at one time expensive, so there is no way we can just throw them into the trash. Plus that wouldn’t be very environmental friendly now would it? So apparently mine just get thrown in a drawer, never to be seen again.

There is a pretty neat solution for your old cell phones and it’s called CellForCash.com. They offer a rebate program for your old cell phone that can get you between $4 and $300 cold hard cash in your hands.

Why should I recycle my cell phone?

    • Cell phones are not good for the environment
    • Cell phones contain hazardous levels of lead when disposed in landfill conditions
    • Preliminary testing by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control has shown that cell phones are likely to be determined hazardous at end-of-life and will require management under Universal Waste regulations.
    • The lithium-ion and nickel-metal hydride batteries contain heavy metals such as cobalt, zinc, and copper.

They make it really easy to recycle your cell phone. You just put in your make and model, and they will tell you what it’s worth. They even will send you a free postage paid box for you to send in your cell phone. And the really great feature of their site? You can donate your rebate amount to the CellphoneBank.org website that helps the elderly and victims of abuse.

So do your part in helping the environment, while cleaning out the clutter in your house, and recycle your old unused cell phone at CellForCash.com.

I just read a story on Time.com called Wikipedia Editors Now Unmasked. Up until last week, editors at the ever popular Wikipedia were completely anonymous, and only identifiable by their IP addresses.

With the creation of WikiScanner these editors are now revealed. The rebuttals against some of the Scientology entries, of course come from the Scientology corporate headquarters, and some entries were even traced back to The Associated Press.

Interesting stuff! Go check it out for yourself. What are your thoughts on this?

    Facebook
    08 13th, 2007

I just signed up for Facebook a couple weeks ago. Mu husband was urging me to, so I thought I would give it a try. WOW! I’ve become an addict! The addon applications are so fun to look at and implement, that it’s worth it right there. And the nonexistent spam from wanna-be bikini models is a blessing. It’s like MySpace, for grownups. Really!

So once again…if you know me from the forums, or from my blogs, let’s be friends!

culinary school This isn’t really geeky, but who watches Hells Kitchen? Oh man I love that show, and Gordon Ramsey is great! You stupid donkey! HAHAHA!

I would love to go to culinary school like TCA. I thought that was great that he gave Julia a culinary school education scholarship. With the right education, she will become a great chef one day.

This seasons winner is going to be running a restaurant at the hotel and casino right by my house, The Green Valley Ranch. It will be fun to go up there and eat to see Bonnie cooking up a storm. Okay, it could be Rock, but I want Bonnie to win.

    Computer Coupon Codes
    08 9th, 2007

Okay guys, I found a cool web site that I wrote about on my other blog, but I thought I would share it here also.

How many times have you shopped online only to find a section at the end of your checkout screen that ask for promotional code, or coupon codes? Did you normally just skip it, or did you look further into what that means? What it means is you could be saving some big bucks on your purchase if only you knew where to look for the correct free online coupons.

I found some good coupon codes at a new place called Deal Locker, that had a whole slew of computer and technology related coupons, including Dell.

    For example they currently show:

    • Dell Home $350 Off Inspiron Desktop Purchases $999+
    • Dell Home $624 off Inspiron E1705 notebook now $749
    • Dell Home $110 Off Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS

Do you know how sometimes those coupon codes you find online don’t work, or they expired? Deal Locker is pretty cool because it gives you an option to mark if the coupon worked or not. So after you make a purchase using one of their codes, you can go back in and give your feedback if it worked or not. It’s sure a great way to save some time and money.

You can also set up an account and add your own coupons as you find them online. So it’s just like clipping all the coupons from the Sunday paper, and giving some of them to your friends you know will use them. It’s an online coupon sharing web site.

Check out some of their other coupons for companies such as 4AllMemory.com, Circuit City, CompUSA, and Fujitsu, just to name a few. There are hundreds more, so go check them out yourself before you buy anything online!

    MySpace
    08 9th, 2007

I wrote about a year ago, how I got sick of MySpace and all the spam, and the hacked in accounts (my son’s) so I said screw it, and deleted my profile. I didn’t miss it at all, in fact, I got a lot more done on the internet, without having that distraction.

Well last week, I started missing my friends that live out of state. We kept up on MySpace through emails and comments, so I signed back up again. I haven’t added any pictures other than my profile one, but if you want to add me go for it. I’ll add you if I know you from the forums, or if I know you from commenting here.

PeekYou - The People Search Engine

Have you guys seen the new PeekYou? It’s a new people search engine, that is still in beta, but I was quit surprised when I did a search for my name, and I was on there! Number one, with a picture that I use on several message boards.

I’m going to assume they get this content from MySpace or Facebook, because it’s the same user picture I use there, and plus it list my age. Those are the only two places online that list my age in that manner.

When I clicked through to my profile page, all the information is there about my blogs as well. Go check it out! Put in your name and see what comes up. I’m not sure if I think this is cool, or a little freaky that they know so much. HA! It will be interesting to see where this goes though.
